This July 4th I was glad to attend the Fireworks Extravaganza at Lincoln Harbor on the Mystic Sailboat, held by Oceanie Club.

Not surprisingly, in addition to enjoying the atmosphere along the water and taking in the best view of the fireworks I have ever had, how can you not embrace the dress code? >> ‘white with a nautical flair’! While I did not have shoes in red white and blue per say, I was excited to wear my black and white pinstripe dress paired with some Fedora Love as I like to call it! My pewter sandals worked just fine with a touch of red as always!

The star of the party was the Majestic Tall Ship, Mystic, a beautiful schooner at 170 feet long and 110 feet tall. I have not spent much time on sail boats myself but it is truly quite a magnificent ship with an old world feel. Live music and the best view of the NY Skyline, with old and new friends; it was a fun evening. I personally had never seen the fireworks that close and it was grand! There was a sense of positive energy and joyfulness regardless of each of our individual uncertainties that may have been reverberating through our minds earlier in the day!

Aside from reveling in the chance to savor the nautical love on July 4th, I am glad to share the message about the initiative behind why Oceanie Club founders Maggie and Hubert Delaney acquired Mystic and are making NY her permanent birth. The event supported their goal of providing a one in a lifetime experience to students in the Tri-State to enjoy a free educational, enrichment and recreational experience aboard the “Mystic”, which has 17 State Rooms.  Students will have a hands-on experience, exploring NY Harbor and the NYC Skyline as they learn about the history of The Statue of Liberty, Ny Harbor and the impact that boating has had on the harbor.

Lovely summer white attire on these ladies! I adore that accent of red as well. Not sure the designer of that clutch but I would love to know. Please comment if you anyone has a suggestion! 🙂
